Q. How do we obtain a minibus insurance quotation?

A. You can call us on 01271 345005 or complete our quote request form and one of our team members will call you back.

Q. What is a minibus?

A. A minibus is a vehicle that has been registered with the DVLA having 9 -16 passenger seats.

Q. Can we remove the seats from our minibus?

A. You can remove the seats from your minibus, once you have done this you must advise DVLA, and then advise us so we can update your schedule.

Q. What is a Section 19 permit?

A. A Section 19 permit is issued to non-profit making organisations. This will allow the organisation to receive money/donation from a passenger entitling them to be transported in the minibus.

Q. What is a Section 22 Permit?

A. A Section 22 permit is issued to non-profit making organisations that wish to run a Public Service route in a rural area where no other transport is available.

Q. Do we get an introductory discount?

A. If you’re organisation is taking out their first minibus insurance, you will be eligible for an introductory discount, providing your drivers are accident and conviction free.

Q. Can we protect our no claims bonus?

A. Depending on your insurer, when you have maximum no claims bonus it may be possible to do so for a small additional cost.

Q. How can we reduce our renewal premium?

A. Ensure that you have given us your up to date information. Some details may increase your premium and by updating them with us your renewal premium may reduce. Alternatively you can make small changes to your policy such as increase your policy excess or reduce your cover (we would always recommend you speak to an advisor before taking this decision).

Q. Where can we get driver training?

Q. Do we need to fill in any forms to go on cover with you?

A. Generally no, the only form you may be required to fill in is an application to pay your premiums monthly or the Driver Declaration form if you require cover for drivers aged 70+.

Q. Can you provide us with Public and Employers Liability insurance?

A. We have a policy specifically for groups operating minibuses on a non-profit basis – premiums start from £215 for £10,000,000 Employers Liability cover and £5,000,000 Public Liability cover with £25 per week for Personal Accident.

Q. Can you cover our Office and Contents?

A. As with our Public and Employers liability policy we also have a policy that will incorporate your Office and Contents cover. Minimum premium is £158

Q. How do I cancel my insurance?

A. If you need to cancel your insurance you will need to write to us requesting the cancellation enclosing your current certificate. Your policy will be cancelled and insurers will issue a pro-rata return of premium (subject to any claims being reported).

Q. How do we make amendments to our insurance?

Q. We are planning to take our minibus abroad what do we need to do?

A. Check with us that your policy allows cover for the Country you are visiting, we have guidelines available about taking a minibus abroad or alternatively visit Community Transport Association website and download their guidance leaflet.

Q. Can another group use our minibus under our insurance?

A. From time to time you may be approached by another group asking if they can use your minibus. We recommend that you call us and we will refer it to the underwriters for authorisation, cover is usually granted at no additional costs.
